When the show debuted in , I was just Now, when I watch it as a single woman in her 30s, it hits a little closer to home. I identify with the characters and their struggles so much more than I did before, because dating in your 30s is very different than dating in your 20s. The playing field is narrower and you probably carry a little more baggage. You also likely have fewer single friends, so there’s more pressure to couple up. If you recently became single or just turned 31 and are beginning to notice how dating has changed, you came to the right place. Does age really matter? Not so much. One of my girlfriends is 35 and she just married a year-old. Their relationship works because they are madly in love and they support each other mutually.

The new site update is up! Is it too late to start a relationship at 30, having never dated? I can’t help but wonder if it’s too late at my age to date or have a relationship if I’ve never done either before. I’ve never been in a relationship or even been on a date unless having gone to a high school dance with someone counts due to a number of factors. It’s mostly anxiety and depression, but also the fact that relationships weren’t really a priority for me in high school and college for whatever reason and the fact that I was busy with getting my degrees followed by getting a job that would be sufficient to let me live independently which I now am.
I’m not entirely sure if I actually want a relationship at this time and working on my mental health is my main priority at the moment, along with finding new things to do or become interested in. However, I have a persistent fear that, should I decide that I would like a relationship, I’m going to be considered too old to have never had a relationship or even a date and that my lack of prior experience would make women apprehensive or scare them off. That is, I worry that I’m past the period where certain mistakes would be understandable and I won’t pretend that I wouldn’t make any mistakes: I’ve never done this, after all , and that my inexperience would be apparent and lead to others getting weirded out or wondering if something’s wrong with me.
Alternatively, I worry that I would be outright asked about my history and that no reasoning for my answer would be sufficient given my age. So, enlighten me: is there a point where it is too late for someone to have a relationship due to never having had one in the past? It may just be my anxiety speaking, but I thought I’d just get some input from others about this.

The same is true for a woman. Everyone has the right to be happy regardless of his or her age. But if you view marriage as the gateway to having children and raising a family, which I believe most people do, then age matters a great deal. Men can theoretically date women 10 years their junior, while women often have to stretch at least as far in the opposite direction.

Older people who have never taken part in sustained exercise programmes have the same ability to build muscle mass as highly trained master athletes of a similar age, according to new research at the University of Birmingham. The research shows that even those who are entirely unaccustomed to exercise can benefit from resistance exercises such as weight training. In the study, published in Frontiers in Physiology , researchers in the University of Birmingham’s School of Sport and Exercise Science compared muscle-building ability in two groups of older men.
The first group were classed as ‘master athletes’ — people in their 70s and 80s who are lifelong exercisers and still competing at top levels in their sport. In the second were healthy individuals of a similar age, who had never participated in structured exercise programmes. Each participant was given an isotope tracer, in the form of a drink of ‘heavy’ water, and then took part in a single bout of exercise, involving weight training on an exercise machine.
The researchers took muscle biopsies from participants in the 48 hour periods just before and just after the exercise, and examined these to look for signs of how the muscles were responding to the exercise. The isotope tracer showed how proteins were developing within the muscle. The researchers had expected that the master athletes would have an increased ability to build muscle due to their superior levels of fitness over a prolonged period of time.
In fact, the results showed that both groups had an equal capacity to build muscle in response to exercise. What’s needed is more specific guidance on how individuals can improve their muscle strength, even outside of a gym-setting through activities undertaken in their homes — activities such as gardening, walking up and down stairs, or lifting up a shopping bag can all help if undertaken as part of a regular exercise regime. A lonely reader wonders whether there is still time for her to find love again. I am 60 years old and my dear companion passed away two years ago; he was 16 years older than me and came from southern Europe. I would like to start dating again and meet someone who has the same characteristics, being family oriented and the like. Could I find someone — perhaps someone who has been widowed — or am I seeking the impossible at my age? At 60 is it too late to be dating, or might I still find love?
